Hidefumi Kawai will replace Hirokazu Yoshimitsu as director sales & marketing of Yamaha Motor India Sales.
In his last role, Kawai was Director of Yamaha operations in Spain, according to a farewell letter which company has sent to its dealers.
Yoshimitsu has played an instrumental role in establishing Yamaha as a premium motorcycle manufacturer with launch of new FZ series, R15 series and MT15. In 2017, was elevated from executive vice president to Director Sales & Marketing.
While thanking the dealers, Yoshimistu in his farewell letter said, “For the past 8 years of my tenure in India, we have always worked together as One Team. It was a great challenge for all of us to establish Yamaha Brand in India, which is the World’s biggest two-wheeler market and there were both good times and tough times as well.”
He further added, “I’m very proud of Yamaha team and all our Dealers who are the pillar of our brand.”
On his new role, he said, “I am confident that the experience that I have gained from India will aid me in my new role in Vietnam.”
Earlier this year, senior vice president (sales & marketing), Roy Kurian resigned to join electric vehicle start-up Tork Motorcycles. Till now, the company has not been able to find a replacement to fill in Kurian’s role.
Roy had a 15-year long career at Indian Yamaha, starting as marketing manager for south India. He was soon promoted to Zonal Business Head-South in Jan 2007.
