NEW DELHI: Indian electric two-wheeler start-up Avan Motors announced the reduction in prices up to Rs 10,000 on its e-scooter models following the government’s decision to slash the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate on electric vehicles to 5% from 12%.
Single battery pack of Avan Xero+ now retails at Rs 53,210 (ex-showroom, Delhi), down from Rs 62,500 while the double battery at Rs 77,210 (ex-showroom, Delhi), down from Rs 86,500.
The single battery variant of the flagship model Trend E, which used to retail at Rs 68,500 received a price cut of almost Rs 10,000, and now comes for Rs 58,796 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Additionally, the double battery option is priced at Rs 82,796 ex-showroom, Delhi), down from Rs 92,500.
Established in 2015, Avan Motors build products for the urban electric mobility space. “The budgetary benefit on the interest paid on the loans taken for the purchase of the electric vehicles and reduction in GST, are policy boosters for the segment. This will result in price rationalisation and bring EVs in the consideration set of potential customers.” said Pankaj Tiwari, India business head, Avan Motors.
